American Leprosy Missions is the oldest and largest non-governmental organization in the United States working to bring a cure and ongoing care to people affected by leprosy and related diseases. Motivated by Christ’s love, American Leprosy Missions works in some of the world’s most underdeveloped places to bring healing and hope to some of the world’s most ostracized people.
During its long history, American Leprosy Missions has provided holistic care to four million people around the world including medical treatment and training, prevention of disability, reconstructive surgery, community development, advocacy, education assistance, micro-credit loans, Christian outreach and vaccine research.
American Leprosy Missions serves more than 500,000 people in Africa, Asia and the Americas. It regularly collaborates with ministries of health, the World Health Organization (WHO), non-governmental organizations and the International Federation of Anti-leprosy Association Partners. The staff includes several world-renowned experts in leprosy and Buruli ulcer, including award-winning doctors and consultants to WHO.
