Short description of the organization and its work to control and eliminate NTDs
The NTDs and Blindness Integrated Control Program is a health program of Burundi Ministry of Public Health, which begn in May 2007. At the beginning, mapping of 7 NTDs was completed as well as data baseline. Mass Drug Administration was completed for albendazole (twice per year), praziquantel (one per year), mectizan (Once per year) and with zithromax since 2011. Evaluations of impact of the treatment were also completed for schistosomiasis and STH, trachoma, onchocerciasis. A final survey (KAP-knowledge, attitudes and practices) was also completed.
