Dr Wang Yu is the distinguished professor of Health City Research Center, Institute for China Sustainable Urbanization, Tsinghua University, and the Former Director General of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. He graduated from Peking Medical University and received both of his M.D. from Peking Medical University and Ph.D. from Jichi Medical School, Japan.
Dr Wang Yu has successively held the posts of the Director of the Institute of Hepatology, Peking Medical University, the Vice President of Peking Medical University, and the Vice President of the Peking University Health Science Center. Then he transferred to the Ministry of Science and Technology as the deputy director of China National Center for Biotechnology Development (CNCBD), then the deputy director of Dept. of Science and Technology for Rural and Social Development. He was Director General of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention from 2004 to 2017.
Dr. Wang is the Executive director of the Chinese Medical Association and the member of the Academic Committee of this Association. Internationally, he serves as the member of the WHO Regional Commission for the Certification of Poliomyelitis Eradication in the Western Pacific.
