NTDs – The missing thread to reaching the unreached
Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are a group of treatable and preventable diseases that place a heavy burden on over a billion people around the world, many of whom live in poverty and low development settings.
Throughout their lives women and girls are disproportionately affected by NTDs. Women face a greater burden due to issues like access to healthcare, physiological factors that make them more vulnerable to certain diseases, and socio-cultural factors that can lead to social exclusion.
