We at Uniting to Combat Neglected Tropical Diseases were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hon. Jenista Mhagama, Tanzania’s Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Peramiho. She was a tireless advocate for NTD elimination and a regional leader whose innovative approaches to implementing and financing sustainable NTD and other health programmes set a powerful example across the continent.

During her tenure, Hon. Mhagama championed equity, strengthened national health systems, and consistently elevated the importance of protecting the most vulnerable communities. Her passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment improved countless lives, and she will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside her. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family, colleagues, and the people of Tanzania.
