Towards African Health Sovereignty

Together with the European Commission, the African Union (AU) and the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Belgian Presidency will organize a high-level event focused on strengthening the foundation of shared ambitions of the EU and AU in Global Health, in a spirit of cooperation matched by tangible joint actions.

The high-level ministerial event will take place on the 20 March in the Egmont Palace in Brussels, following the European Humanitarian Forum (18-19 March).

This event convenes political and strategic high-level officials from the EU and AU public healthcare and development sectors. By deepening the global health pillar of the EU-AU partnership, an area of shared interest and significant potential, the event aims to strengthen the overall political EU-AU relation and partnership. Together it looks to prioritise African Health Sovereignty as key to advancing equitable access to health services and products, strengthening global pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response, and to reaching SDG 3 targets.
