Laura Newman
Director of Communications and Partnerships
Laura is an advocacy and communications strategist with more than 15 years of experience in the global health and development sectors, working alongside a wide range of partners and communities in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. She started consulting for Uniting to Combat NTDs in early 2022 and now serves as the interim Director of Communications and Partnerships. Prior to joining Uniting, she led strategic communications at the University of California San Francisco’s Malaria Elimination Initiative, including The Lancet Commission on malaria eradication. She has also worked as a communications consultant for the World Health Organisation and led communications for PATH’s Malaria Control and Elimination Partnership in Africa project. She has held roles in media production and community organizing. She holds a master’s degree in International Affairs with a specialization in Communication for Development Studies from Ohio University and a bachelor’s degree in English and French from Bowdoin College.
