Michael Schöttler was born in March 1960 in Cologne, Germany. After completing an apprenticeship in economics, he graduated from the University of Bonn (Germany) and is a board-certified pharmacist.

He joined Bayer in 1988 in International Strategic Management. He has since held several management positions in Health Policy & Pharma Public Affairs.

In addition he acted for several years as President of Bayer Pharma Maroc.

Michael retired from Bayer as VP and Global Head Pharma Public Affairs in February 2022. In this function he was responsible for the policy work of Bayer’s Pharmaceutical Division worldwide.

He served as member of the Executive Committee of the Gates CEO Roundtable and Council Member and Treasurer of IFPMA.
