Uniting to Combat NTDs have delivered three statements at the 72nd Regional Committee for Africa in Lomé, Togo between 22-26 August.
The statements addressed three items on the agenda that are highly relevant for advancing action on NTDs in the region.
These three statements focussed on the annual report of the Regional Director on the work of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the African Region; the Framework for the integrated control, elimination and eradication of tropical and vector-borne diseases in the African Region 2022-2030; and the Progress report on the Framework for the implementation of the global vector control response (GVCR) in the WHO African Region.
The statements indicate UTC’s support of the Framework’s objectives to develop and implement national integrated and strategic plans to control vector-borne diseases, eliminate at least 7 vector-borne tropical diseases in all endemic Member States by 2030 and strengthen prevention of tropical and vector-borne diseases outbreaks in all epidemic prone Member States.
